For many, United Way is synonymous with charitable service and worthy causes. In fact, United Way is the primary way many individuals meet their desire to help their fellow human beings. That is why our relationship with donors and the health and human service programs we fund is of utmost importance.

We employ the highest ethical standards of performance, business practice, and accounting to give our best to the community and to maintain the public’s trust.

Your community fund contribution

100% of your contribution to United Way goes to support health and human service programs in Sangamon and Menard Counties.  Fundraising and administrative expenses are underwritten by the United Way Endowment and select corporate gifts.

Accountability

United Way of Central Illinois has responsibilities to its donors, United Way funded organizations, and other stakeholders. These donors have placed faith in United Way of Central Illinois. To uphold this trust, United Way of Central Illinois employees and volunteers:

Make full and fair disclosure of all relevant information to donors, who have a right to know how their dollars are spent,
Spend donors’ money wisely, efficiently and objectively,
Are good stewards of grants, and other contributions that are utilized by United Way of Central Illinois to pay operating expenses, salaries and employee benefits, and refrain from allowing expenditures of United Way of Central Illinois funds that by their nature or amount do not directly advance United Way of Central Illinois’ mission.
Effectiveness

At all levels of programmatic, fundraising and financial management, United Way of Central Illinois employees volunteer business and community leaders, who work to assure your gift to United Way is doing the greatest good in our community.  In other words, dollars which are raised come from members of our community, funding decisions are made by members of our community, and funds are distributed in needed areas for the benefit of our entire community.

United Way of Central Illinois is as a non-profit organization and a local affiliate of United Way of America.

Sharing Personal Information

Relationships with United Way are voluntary and confidential. Personal information is gathered directly from either United Way’s website or a pledge or volunteer form requesting personal information, including address, email, birthdate, etc. If a donor chooses to designate a gift to a specific 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, unless the donor requests to be anonymous, United Way will release the following donor information to that organization so they may acknowledge the gift: name, employer, preferred mailing address, gift amount and general method of payment. Donors and stakeholders may choose to opt-out of being listed in any printed materials by contacting the United Way or by selecting the anonymous option when making a donation or pledge. Donors and stakeholders may opt-out of receiving email, text or other correspondence at any time by contacting the United Way or by following the unsubscribe instructions within any communication.

United Way of Central Illinois does not trade or sell personal information.

United Way of Central Illinois does not share personal information without prior donor or stakeholder consent, unless required to by law.
