Thanks to a grant from Healing Illinois, United Way of Central Illinois is excited to bring you a project that uses art to bring people together, challenge unfair ideas, and inspire positive change in our communities.
About the Project
This traveling art exhibit is led by Springfield artist Michelle Smith. The exhibit will visit five Central Illinois libraries, sharing colorful artwork and fun, educational talks. It’s a chance for people to learn, grow, and connect with others in their community.
Why It Matters
Art helps us understand and care about each other. But in many local towns, people don’t get to see or experience different cultures through art. This project brings those experiences to rural areas, helping everyone see the world in new and exciting ways.
Project Goals
The project's goals include to include everyone and celebrate different voices in our communities, show new and real stories to highlight people and their cultures. The project also hopes to inspire action and encourage individuals to work together to make their communities better.
