Springfield, IL, September 2024 – United Way of Central Illinois is the proud recipient of a Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program grant, which will create a healthier community for all of Central Illinois
“We are incredibly grateful to the Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program for their generous grant, which will have lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community. This funding allows us to strengthen our health initiatives, ensuring that individuals and families have access to the resources and support they need to live healthier lives. Together, we are mobilizing the community, so all can thrive.” Marne Fauser, CEO & President at United Way of Central Illinois.
Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program provides small- and medium-sized grants that align with the railroad’s priority cause areas in safety, workforce development, community vitality and environmental sustainability.
This grant will be used to expand critical health programs throughout Central Illinois, with a focus on increasing access to care, supporting mental health services, and addressing health disparities in underserved communities. By partnering with local health organizations and nonprofits, United Way will ensure that individuals especially those facing financial and social barriers, have support they need to lead healthier lives. The grant will also help improve access to preventative care, allowing more families to receive screenings and services that promote long-term well-being.
United Way strategically allocates funds to initiatives that have a proven impact on improving health outcomes in our region. A portion will go toward mental health services, including counseling services and crisis intervention. In addition, the grant will support efforts to raise awareness about available services and ensure more people can connect with the care they need. Through these efforts, the grant will play a key role in creating a healthier, more equitable future for Central Illinois.
