At United Way of Central Illinois, we're fortunate to have dedicated individuals like Michelle Graven championing 
our cause. As a Digital Marketing Specialist at Springfield Electric and a second-year Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC), Michelle brings fresh energy and valuable insights to our mission.
Michelle's journey with United Way began years ago when she worked directly for the organization. Now, in her role as an ECC, she's rediscovering the impact and importance of community service. "Becoming an Employee Campaign Coordinator for United Way is a rewarding and fulfilling role," Michelle shares. "It's driven by a passion for community service, a desire to make a positive impact, and the opportunity to develop important skills while working with a respected organization."
Her advice to potential ECCs? "Just do it! It's a lot of work, but it's totally worth it." Michelle emphasizes how the role has helped her connect with colleagues and feel more integrated into her workplace.
Drawing from her experience running campaigns at different companies, Michelle highlights key factors for success:

Michelle is particularly excited about United Way's community impact, local focus, and diverse support for multiple nonprofits. "The 100% local message is probably the best message out there!" she exclaims. United Way of Central Illinois is unique in the fact that 100% of individual donations support the services provided by the organization. Fundraising and overhead costs are underwritten by the United Way Endowment and select corporate gifts.
For Michelle, United Way is more than just a charitable organization—it's a gateway to community connection. "As someone who isn't from Springfield, being a part of United Way gave me a sense of community and has made me feel more connected and appreciate my time here," she reflects.
